Hours of sleep
Aug. 1st, 2023 10:05 pmFollowing on from yesterday's thoughts about bedtime, I'm now wondering how much sleep we need.
The internet seems to suggest 7 hours of sleep, which doesn't seem a lot to me. I generally get up around 7, and that would mean going to be around midnight and that feels far too late. I never feel rested if I go to bed that late, especially not getting up at 7.
Only now I'm wondering if the fact I sleep from 10-30ish to 7:00ish means I'm sleeping too much and is that why I'm tired? I don't, as far as I know, suffer from sleep apnea or anything which would affect the quality of my sleep.
I could try going to bed at midnight but I'm a little scared of not being able to get up in the morning.
Maybe I should try one of those sleep tracking apps? I keep getting advertised one that says it provides 'A personalized sleep experience for more restful nights and wakeful days' and claims to 'Improve your wellbeing in just one week'. It also says that using it I can 'Discover your chronotype, track your sleep and create effective bedtime routines that draw from our rich audio collection, guided stories, and relaxation practices' which could be something useful.
But how do I know if it's real?
